Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister made a point of abiding by traditions in this field. Positive trends were said available in our country.
Informing that a new concept of textile industry development is out in Armenia, Tigran Sargsyan said that the objective is to tap on the existing potential and spur up this sphere in our country: “For the first time, the government has designed a toolkit for developing textile industry and exports. The government used to concentrate on macroeconomic stability, equal market conditions and improved business environment which was enough to attract investments. But the latest developments on the global marketplace can evidence that the above factors are insufficient for boosting exports. A clear-cut State policy and appropriate tools need implementing to achieve this goal. This what the government is doing now.”
Addressing the forum, the head of government said to be looking forth to getting proposals on the development of textile industry in our country: “It is important for us to understand stakeholders’ expectations from the State. The proposed toolkit implies fiscal and many other privileges which have already proved successful.”
Tigran Sargsyan pointed out that textile is a fast developing industry worldwide and, therefore, Armenia should do everything to find a niche on the global marketplace.
The forum seeks to expose Armenia’s competitive edge, outline ways for modernization and expansion, as well as to promote international cooperation in this field. It is attended by some 40 representatives of domestic and foreign firms, experts from the EurAsEC, South Caucasus and EU.
