PM Gets Acquainted With Tavush Marz Programs
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited today Tavush marz of Armenia. The head of government first attended the opening of Vazashen municipal center.
Tigran Sargsyan toured the center getting acquainted with the facility. The 1988 earthquake-hit center has been completely rehabilitated under an Armenian Social Investment Fund-supported program.
The center which hosts the village council has a 180-seated assembly hall and a library. Sports and cultural circles are due to be created within the center. The total cost of the program is 111 million drams.
The head of government next visited Berd where a new water-mains has been commissioned recently under a program referred to as “Restoration of intra-community irrigation systems in Berd, Tovuz, Verin Karmirakhpyur, Nerkin Karmirakhpyur and Movses communities of the Republic of Armenia” to a total cost of AMD 220mn.
As a result, irrigation water will be supplied to cultivated land with a total area of 549 hectares, of which 62.4 ha in Berd, 140 ha – in Tovuz, 190 ha - in Nerkin Karmirakhpyur, 103 ha – in Verin Karmirakhpyur and 54 ha – in Movses.
Tigran Sargsyan also visited the medical center of Berd to get acquainted with the WB-supported USD1.5mn worth project of reconstruction. The center which employs some 154 staff has therapeutic, surgical, gynecologic and infectious wards.
The Prime Minister next called at the high school of Berd after Marus Saghumyan where a monument to Armenia’s Honored Teacher has been unveiled recently. Reconstruction activities covered the gym hall where the water mains, power and gas supply, as well as the heating systems have been repaired. The project costs AMD 123mn with 6.2 million drams invested from the municipal budget and the balance coming from the ASIF.
Tigran Sargsyan who is a member of the Republican Party of Armenia also visited the house of culture in Berd to meet with RPA members and hand out 100 party cards to new recruits.
Greeting the audience, the Prime Minister said to be highly honored to hand them party cards because they have made a responsible political decision at such a crucial period as the RPA assumes responsibility for addressing the problems facing the country.
“We should come together to carry out reforms vital to the nation. We have clear-cut programs and eye the future. The Republican Party of Armenia will try to implement such programs as may open up new development opportunities,” Tigran Sargsyan said assuring of his party’s firm determination to do so.
