CIS Government Heads Sign Free Trade Zone-Related Agreement
Headed by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Armenian delegation attended today the CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting in St. Petersburg. The agenda comprised over twenty items.
First, the Prime Ministers signed the agreement on establishment of a free trade zone between the member countries as discussed and finalized by respective competent authorities. The participants also discussed issues concerning the drafting of the joint economic development strategy and the implementation of second-stage (till 2020) actions in the period between 2012 and 2015.
The prime ministers next reviewed an array of joint efforts in the field of innovations, strategic development of railways, telecommunications and information technologies in 2012, as well as the approval of basic principles behind the common policy in the field of currency regulation and currency control.
They discussed financial assistance for welfare and medical services available to the veterans of World War II and their families in 2012, the agreement on setting up a uniform system of record of citizens coming from third countries, the financing of coordinated air defense system design activities and so on.
In conclusion, the heads of government discussed the consolidated budget of CIS agencies for 2012.
The meeting has likewise outlined a series of arrangements of mutual interest.
