Tigran Sargsyan: Armenian economists should be mobilized to devise expert approaches against the threats and challenges facing Armenia
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended today a three-day symposium the current challenges of global economy, held at the Yerevan State University.
Welcoming the participants, the Prime Minister said the conference was important for several reasons. “I believe this is an important step toward uniting Armenian economists from different universities of the world, formulating an agenda of interest to the Armenian economics in order to carry out studies and hold discussions concerning key economic problems. In this respect, it is important to have a platform leading to serious conclusions and recommendations. The Government is interested in cooperating with an expert platform like that.”
Then the head of government dwelt on the current trends of global economy noting that economists in modern world are still far from giving accurate answers as to the current status of the global economy, the driving forces and the ways out of the second wave of crisis. Tigran Sargsyan said joint discussions should be held to review such anti-crisis actions as may be need in dealing with the risks and problems ahead.
“We should examine several probable action scenarios. In this respect, the Government is paying a substantial attention to the macroeconomic stability of our country by reducing the budget deficit and developing infrastructures in order to withstand the possible waves of crisis.”
The symposium brings together economists from both Armenia and the Diaspora.
