PM Meets With Newly Appointed US Ambassador

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received newly appointed US Ambassador John Heffern.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Prime Minister congratulated him on appointment and wished him productive work.

Appreciating the current level of U.S. - Armenia cooperation, Tigran Sargsyan expressed confidence that the newly appointed ambassador would succeed in expanding and developing bilateral ties. The Prime Minister hailed the work done by Marie Yovanovitch, the former Ambassador of the United States.

Thankful for reception, John Heffern conveyed gratitude on behalf of the U.S. President and the Secretary of State for the relief provided to Turkey after the recent earthquake of Van.

At the request of Mr. Heffern, the Prime Minister referred to the U.S.-supported Armenia programs which were said quite successful. Tigran Sargsyan dwelt on Armenian-Turkish relations while speaking on Armenia’s foreign policy priorities. In this context, the Premier stressed that Armenia’s standpoint on the prospects of bilateral relations has not changed.

Prioritizing the shaping of civil society in our country and describing the government’s efforts aimed at middle class formation, Tigran Sargsyan briefed the guest on Armenia’s economic developments and his government’s anti-crisis actions.
