Economic Component of RPA Electoral Platform To Be Drafted After Public Debate
The first economic conference of the Republican Party of Armenia adopted a statement, read out by Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, who noted in part, “Conference participants describe as positive the government’s 2008-2011 activities. Summarizing the outcome of the proceedings, the conference suggests the executive bodies of the Republican Party of Armenia to:
1. Consider the possibility of holding topical and per-sector forums based on the government’s 2008-2011 activities.
2. Continue the party’s foreign and international cooperation policy.
The Republican Party of Armenia and its local organizations should:
1. Make every effort to reach the reforms out to every citizen of Armenia.
2. Hold discussions and brief local party members and supporters on the outcome of Government’s 2008-2011 activities and the statement passed by the RPA conference.
3. Formulate suggestions and recommendations for the design of the RPA electoral platform ahead of 2012 general elections.
Summing up the conference, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated as follows, “Reporting back the outcome of the conference to the President of Armenia, we took note of his proposal to hold similar forums on a regular basis not only in Yerevan, but also in the provinces.
We have the capacity of mobilizing our political potential around the President of the Republic in order to tackle the challenges facing the nation.
The ruling party must be on the watch which means that we should abide by the principle of transparency in our activities and we must be accountable to the Party and the people. Meetings and public debates will have to be organized in this respect.
At the same time, it should be stated that the conference sought to summarize the outcome of the work done for the past 4 years. This means that our next meeting should be eying the future: this is the fact that the instructions given to the local community and our party with this document and at the same time to collect proposals on which we will discuss together with the economic bloc of the party's electoral program.”
Note that the first economic conference of the Republican Party of Armenia kicked off on October 30, 2011.
