The Prime Minister Received the Indian State Minister of Communication and Information Technology
Today, November 7, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation, led by the Indian State Minister of Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot. Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister noted that RA Government attaches great importance to the development, deepening and expansion of Armenian-Indian relations. Noting that the Armenian-Indian economic cooperation is currently at a high level in pharmaceutical, chemical industry, machinery and IT, Tigran Sargsyan said that RA Government is interested in developing cooperation in tourism, which can be greatly contributed by the organization of bilateral airlines.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Sachin Pilot noted that new economic relations should be created on the good basis of historical relations between the two countries, and the bilateral cooperation should be expanded in different directions. The latter assured that the Indian Government is also interested in this issue and will do everything to implement bilateral programs in different directions.
During the meeting both sides stressed the importance of development of trade between the two countries and involvement of the private sector in it. According to the Prime Minister, the Armenian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission has to perform large amount of work regarding this issue.
The sides also discussed agricultural issues, in particular, Armenia’s possible acquisition of agricultural machinery from India, as well as issues related to cultural, scientific cooperation.
