Regular Sitting of IT Development Support Council was Held Today
Regular sitting of IT Development Support Council was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. Firstly, a report on fulfillment of the assignments given during the previous sitting of the council was presented.
First on the agenda was the discussion of the issue concerning customs duties applicable to some computer products. It was noted that there are different customs rates for products with the same properties, which creates problems for the businessmen when importing the goods. It was suggested to apply 0 percent customs duty rate on some computers with the same properties.
Then the participants of the sitting referred to integration of joint electronic systems. It was suggested to connect the electronic management systems of the RA Ministries of Economy and Defense, as well as the electronic system of the Central Bank to the one of the Customs service for the proper permission providing operations for the export, import and transit of the ICT sector products.
In regard to the above mentioned issues, the Prime Minister assigned to organize discussions between the concerned bodies and departments and present corresponding recommendations.
The council also referred to the development of Wiki projects in Armenia. It was reported that the Wikimedia Foundation is carrying out works to enrich the Armenian Wikipedia with new materials. Tigran Sargsyan called the state bodies dealing with these issues to cooperate with the RA Ministry of Economy for the solution of the existing problems.
The works implemented by the EU TAIEX program were also discussed during the sitting.
