Tigran Sargsyan Briefs Top Army Staff On Armenia’s Economic Policy
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan called at Ministry of Defense headquarters to attend the operational meeting of AF leadership.
The head of government briefed top army staff on Armenia’s economic policy and answered the questions of interest to high-ranking army officers.
Noting that a first-ever export-oriented industrial strategy has been designed for Armenia, the Prime Minister said that it seeks to carry out investment programs in 11 areas, based on public-private sector partnership. “The new industrial policy is aimed at creating jobs,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, agriculture is the second priority. The government will continue subsidizing seeds, diesel fuel and fertilizers, enabling Armenian farmers to reduce costs and get extra income. The farmers will have wider access to preferential loans or lease options for the purchase of farm machinery that may promote development in this sector.
Tigran Sargsyan assured of his government’s commitment to create jobs for the active members of vulnerable households, as well as to provide for enhanced access to education.
A program has been developed with the Ministry of Defense to help servicemen realize which way to take in planning future activities: “A special registry is up to identify our soldiers’ skills, abilities and wishes so that they could get higher education based on State order. Thus, the State undertakes to fund army leavers’ further education,” the head of government said.
Concerning the target of balanced marz development, Tigran Sargsyan said that capital investments will henceforth be made in the regions to generate new jobs, develop infrastructures and enhance the quality of services.
For continued thoughtfulness and care for the Armed Forces, Defense Minister Seiran Ohanyan awarded Tigran Sargsyan with the AF 20th anniversary medal.
