PM Meets OSCE Yerevan Office Head

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan welcomed Ambassador Andrey Sorokin, the newly appointed head of the Yerevan Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Congratulating Mr. Sorokin on his appointment, Tigran Sargsyan wished him successful and fruitful work. “I am confident that we will be able to keep up the tradition of cooperation as the Government of Armenia is interested in expanding the scope of joint action,” the Prime Minister noted.

For his part, appreciative of the activities of the OSCE Yerevan office, Mr. Sorokin assured that he would join the field staff to strengthen and develop effective ties of cooperation between the OSCE and the Government of Armenia.

The parties went on to discuss details of the Government’s fast reform tool entitled “Regulatory guillotine.” Tigran Sargsyan thanked the OSCE Yerevan Office for initiative and support extended all the way through this project.

Note that on November 3, 2011, a letter of intent was signed between the Government of Armenia and several international organizations in a bid to promote reform by means of the aforementioned “Regulatory guillotine.”

The interlocutors exchanged views over the possibility of cooperating toward improving electoral processes in Armenia. The head of government hailed the efforts made by the OSCE / ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) in the field of reform, gender equality, human rights and democracy programs.
