IT Sector Development Programs and Prospects Discussed



Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and the members of the IT Enterprise Union (ITEU) discussed IT development outlook and future programs during a breakfast meeting this morning.

The IT sector was said to be on the rise in our country. International companies are coming to Armenia and there is a serious market demand for labor.

In this context, the meeting discussed training-related issues, including the founding of the Armenian National Engineering Laboratory at the State Engineering University of Armenia (Polytechnic) in cooperation with National Instruments Ltd.

ITEU Executive Director Karen Vardanian said to be pleased with the program’s current status and expressed confidence that it would be brought to successful completion.

Another issue on the agenda was the need for promoting IT-related activities in the provinces. In this context, the meeting reviewed the ongoing efforts at the technopark of Gyumri. Vanadzor was said to be the next in turn.

In conclusion, the meeting looked at the possibility of getting IT enterprises involved in the
military industry, as well as the activities planned for 2012.
