Scholarships Offered To Best University Students
Armenia’s Youth Fund has assigned scholarships to 750 best first- and second-year university students from vulnerable families who are not included in the system of free education. To this end, the government has allocated AMD 60mn to the Fund. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan handed out today the certificates of scholarship.
“This initiative of the Fund is backed by the government as we are bound in duty to make higher education accessible and encourage young people to go to universities. The lack of financial resources should not be an impediment to getting higher education in Armenia. We will henceforth be working in this direction,” Tigran Sargsyan stated.
The Prime Minister noted that educational reform is needed to enhance the quality of post-graduate studies in line with international standards. “Low access to education generates poverty. Here that the State should stand by needy families, providing wider access to higher education,” the head of government said, assuring that the policy of providing scholarships will be continued in future.
Over 1800 students from Armenia’s State universities participated in the scholarship competition, including a hundred first-year and 1700 second-year students.
90 out of 750 successful students represent the universities operating in the regions, including Goris and Gavar State Universities, Idjevan branch of YSU, Gyumri and Yeghegnadzor branches of Armenia’s State Economics University etc.
