PM Receives Tomasz Telma
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan welcomed IFC Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe Tomasz Telma.
“Business environment improvement and middle class formation stand high on the Government’s agenda. From this perspective, we highly value the Corporation’s efforts toward encouraging and boosting private enterprise in Armenia,” Tigran Sargsyan stated.
The Prime Minister thanked Tomasz Telma for fruitful cooperation and noted that the Government will continue expanding the ties of close partnership with the IFC.
Pleased with the current pace of cooperation, Tomasz Telma stressed the importance of joint programs.
The parties went on discuss development of securities market, cooperation in the energy sector and improvement of business environment. Tigran Sargsyan reminded that owing to the reforms implemented with the IFC, Armenia managed a 6-point rating improvement to 55 from the previous year’s 61 under the World Bank’s “Business – 2012: business in a more transparent world” report.
In this context, the interlocutors talked about the business environment reform, stressing the importance of new joint efforts aimed at improved tax administration and food safety, as well as simplified export-import-related procedures.
