Consultation On “Doing Business” Performance Improvement Program
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan held a consultation on improving the business environment.
Before proceeding to the agenda, the Prime Minister noted, “Last year, we managed a 6-point advance in Armenia’s “Doing Business” rating. Important is that 5 of our reforms were assessed as successful. We were the leader in terms of large-scale action: we climbed up 6 points to 55 from the 61th position. Therefore, we should step up efforts in order to succeed this year as well.”
The meeting went on to discuss progress in implementation of Government Decree No. 1930-N of December 22, 2011 on business environment improvement action. The speakers reported back the steps undertaken in a number of areas and the problems encountered in this process. They dwelt on the need to reduce the frequency of reporting, introduce a new culture of taxpayer-officer relationship, as well as to provide enhanced awareness on lending information.
Summarizing the discussion, the head of government gave instructions to the heads of the ministries and departments concerned.
