Tigran Sargsyan Welcomes Sergey Martynov
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergey Martynov.
Welcoming the guest, the Prime Minister said, “It is a pleasure that Armenia and Belarus have historically enjoyed strong bonds of warmth, friendship and high-level political intercourse. At the same time, there is a huge potential of economic cooperation and we should do everything to expand economic exchanges."
The parties highlighted the role of the Armenian-Belarusian intergovernmental commission which is to meet again this fall in Minsk. In this context, Tigran Sargsyan and Sergey Martynov discussed a broad range of economic cooperation-related issues, including Belarusian partners’ contribution to the North-South Highway and NPP projects, Belarusian agricultural leasing company’s activities, as well as the supply of agricultural machinery to Armenia.
The interlocutors discussed the possibility of replenishing Armenia’s bus fleet and the existing stock of elevators with Belarusian buses and elevators. Diamond processing, nuclear energy and tourism were singled out as prospective areas of cooperation.
In conclusion, attended by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Armenian Ministry of Economy and the Finance Ministry of Belarus signed a memorandum of cooperation in jewelry. The document was signed by Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan for Armenia and Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov for Belarus.
