New Country Development Cooperation Strategy Discussed
Acting Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received USAID Armenia Office Head Jatinder Cheema to discuss the criteria applicable to the new five-year country development cooperation strategy, as well as the Government’s priorities relevant to the strategy.
Thanking Tigran Sargsyan for reception, Jatinder Cheema referred to the main areas of the new cooperation strategy, including the USAID-proposed steps toward economic growth and democratic governance, as well as the ones to be taken along with the ongoing health and social sector reforms.
Noting that as a whole, the two sides have a common understanding of cooperation priorities, the acting head of government highlighted the following areas: ensuring economic growth, increasing management efficiency, building democratic institutions, as well as implementing health and social sector reforms. Tigran Sargsyan stressed that the target programs should seek the formation and development of the middle class in Armenia.
In conclusion, the acting Prime Minister instructed to set up a working group composed of concerned ministry representatives to deal with development strategy issues in close cooperation with the USAID Armenia Office.
