Tigran Sargsyan: “The outcome of centuries-old Armenian-Russian friendship is the strategic partnership between Russia and Armenia”
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan called at the Russian Embassy in Armenia to attend a reception dated to the day of Russia.
Offering his congratulations, the Prime Minister wished the friendly people of Russia peace, prosperity and realization of planned programs.
”The Day of Russia is an emerging but important holiday, which is associated with a turning point in modern Russia’s history, political, economic and spiritual life of Russian society. In the early 1990s, our peoples made a historic choice to build a civil society, develop democratic institutions and modernize the country.
We walked along the difficult path of transformations, but this path opened up new possibilities and prospects for effective development. I can state today with confidence and utmost pleasure that during the past 20 years not only did we manage to maintain the centuries-old ties of friendship between our two peoples, but we also raised it to a new qualitative level. The outcome of centuries-old Armenian-Russian friendship is the strategic partnership between Russia and Armenia.
Russia plays a key role in ensuring Armenia’s national security. It holds leading positions in the economy of our country. Russia is a major investor in Armenia and one of the main foreign trade partners of our country. We are interested in the further development of bilateral relations, including the diversification of economic relations which is a top priority to us.
Continued cooperation in various fields is believed to boost economic exchanges. This will also give a new impetus to the strategic partnership between Russia and Armenia.
I am glad that during the meeting with Dmitry Medvedev, we were able to discuss a wide range of issues. We have full understanding over the modernization of our relations based on a new platform implying a diversified and innovative economy,” Tigran Sargsyan said wishing well-being and prosperity to the friendly people of Russia.
