The Government decided to set up a welfare housing service center SNPO. Operational under the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the newly formed entity will be responsible for managing and maintaining the buildings handed over to the Ministry, as well as for providing social and psychological assistance, primary health care, protecting the rights and promoting the interests of those households domiciled in the social housing estate. AMD 11.388.4 thousand was earmarked for the launch and servicing of a welfare house in Maralik town of Shirak Marz.
“We must extend a vote of thanks to all those NGOs who worked with us, as well as to the Armenian Relief Society which together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs drafted a finalized list of orphan children eligible for welfare housing. As a matter of fact, the decision shall bring about drastic changes in this field, considering that the program has already yielded the first results.
On the one hand, in the person of this newly established entity, we will have a responsible authority to coordinate the ongoing activities and address the existing housing and social bottlenecks. On the other hand, we will be able to provide long-awaited accommodation to needy children. A few more blocks of flats will be commissioned in Maralik over the next couple of years to considerably mitigate the problem,” the Premier said.
The Government adopted a strategy for the social protection of elderly population and an action plan for 2012-2016.
Mindful of this year’s adverse climatic conditions, the meeting made appropriate changes to the program of water systems’ capital repairs by adding new facilities to the list of priority projects. To ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of water from Sevan-Hrazdan power-irrigation system, the Government decided to increase the water intake quota from the planned 204.0 million cubic meters to 239.2 million cubic meters.
Amending the government decree numbered 1290 of November 1, 2007 the meeting established a swear-in procedure for those applying for Republic of Armenia citizenship with Armenia’s foreign diplomatic missions and consulates.
“Lusabats” and “Hasmik” limited liability companies were allocated AMD 9000.0 thousand to provide for proper summer rest of children, including Syrian children of Armenian origin.
