PM Receives German Hessen Region Delegation




Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of Hessen Region of the Federal Republic of Germany, Minister of Justice, Integration and European Affairs Jörg-Uwe Hane.

Stressing the importance of the Armenian-German relations, the Prime Minister noted that Germany is the largest EU investor in Armenia’s public and private sectors. As far as the public sector is concerned, investments have been made in the financial system, the judiciary, environmental protection, local self-government and European integration. There are some 80 companies with German capital operational in the private sector, which have great development potential: “We prioritize the establishment of direct linkages with the administrative units of Germany. Your visit will provide a more objective idea about the prospects of cooperation. Convinced that it is in the best interest of Armenia, we will do everything to create favorable conditions for cooperation.”

Thanking the Premier for reception, Mr. Jörg-Uwe Hane said Hessen region may play a significant role in the development of trade and economic relations.

Tigran Sargsyan noted that Armenia looks forward to being supported with its euro-integration effort. Judiciary reform and exchange of experience were said to be priority areas of cooperation. The parties have also touched upon the possibility of cooperating in the fields of chemical industry and tourism. In the context of continued trade and economic ties, they stressed the need for holding a business conference.

Views have been exchanged concerning the German government’s continued technical and financial assistance to Armenia which is funneled through the German International Cooperation Company (GIZ) and the Credit Bank for Reconstruction (KfW).
