ADB Executive Director Congratulates PM on the Impressive Economic Growth
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received the delegation of the Asian Development Bank led by the Executive Director Maurin Sitorus. “The strengthening and development of the relations with the Asian Development Banks is of great importance to us. The implemented joint programs have a vital role for our country. I am sure, that your visit will help to clarify the strategy of our further partnership,” said Tigran Sargsyan.
Maurin Sitorus highly appreciated the cooperation with Armenia and expressed his contentment with the implemented joint programs, including the preparation process of the North-South Highway construction works.
The Prime Minister informed that the construction works of the highway will start on September 13.
“I want to congratulate you on the excellent economic performance and the impressive record of economic growth. We hope that our cooperation will contribute to the further sustainable economic development of Armenia,” said the ADB Executive Director.
Tigran Sargsyan stressed the importance of directing the ADB grants to the private sector, which will allow us to improve the country’s business environment.
Speaking of the proposal of holding ADB’s annual forum in Baku in 2015 or 2016, the Prime Minister said that Armenia is not against it, but also noted that our country will only take part in the forum, if they ensure the security of our delegation and if Azerbaijan does not use the platform to make political statements.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan offered ADB to have its active participation in the donors’ conference in Armenia, organized with the support of the European Union and the World Bank.
The Prime Minister and the ADB Executive Director also discussed issues related to water supply and sewerage, improvement of financing opportunities of the business projects offered by the female entrepreneurs and other joint programs.
