Today Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan has introduced newly appointed Minister Levon Mkrtchyan to the Staff of the Ministry of Education and Science.


The Prime Minister has emphasized that the reforms underway in the sphere of science and education would be continued in line with the government program. No drastic changes would be operated in the policy, and those experts actively involved in the activities for the implementation of reforms and having made a significant contribution to the given sphere would continue to work. He noted that political considerations were behind the discharge of Sergo Yeritzyan and thanked him for good teamwork. The Prime Minister said that, as a matter of fact, there was no special need in introducing the newly appointed minister as almost everyone on ministry staff knew Levon Mkrtchyan and his style of work, with the minister himself being well aware of the goals and policies pursued in this sector. In this regard, no difficulties were supposed to meet with, and Mr. Mkrtchyan was expected to work along the lines outlined during the activity of Sergo Yeritzyan in keeping to the principle of continuity and the spirit of reforms inherent in the programs launched by the Government.


Sergo Yeritzyan thanked the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the staff of the ministry for good teamwork and the assistance rendered during his activity and went on to emphasize that without this cooperation it would be impossible to address the tasks set before the Ministry. He further noted that the ministry staff had undergone no serious changes after Levon Mkrtchyan, the core nucleus of experts continued to work during his term in office, and expressed confidence that Levon Mkrtchyan, in turn, would adhere to the principle of continuity. Sergo Yeritzyan wished every success to the newly appointed minister in the hope that the started reforms would be brought to logical conclusion.


Having thanked those present for their kind wishes, Levon Mkrtchyan assured that as assisted by the Cabinet and supported by ministry experts he would continue implementing the reforms in the system of education and science.
