CIS-Member State Teachers’ Conference Kicks Off In Yerevan
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended the opening of 2nd CIS-member State teachers’ conference at Karen Demirchyan Sports Complex.
Addressing the forum on behalf of his government, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the efforts aimed at developing the system of education.
“Modern States or societies cannot go without an effective educational system. The logic of development is changing in the modern world. New knowledge rather than goods and industry are deemed to be the driving force behind development. This calls for drastic changes in the whole system of governance,” Tigran Sargsyan emphasized.
According to the head of government, education, and science are the main functions of a modern state. “Intellectual activity is what matters most nowadays. This means that the State should create such infrastructures as are necessary for the knowledge-based self-realization of individuals,” Tigran Sargsyan said. In this context, the Prime Minister observed that universities are of primary importance. He further note that universities are building up their own technology centers to serve as a medium for extensive intellectual activity.
“Our duty is to create an educational system that might enable the new man to elevate his standard of learning all the way through his lifetime,” Tigran Sargsyan noted. In this regard, the head of government highlighted the ongoing integration processes in the field of education and science within the CIS frameworks.
The conference is attended by the representatives of Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgizistan, Turkmenistan and Moldova: The forum seeks to identify priority areas for educational and scientific cooperation through more dynamic ties between the CIS countries.
