Tigran Sargsyan: Relying On Our Faith We Can Defy Challenges
Ararat Patriarchal Diocese Council Chairman, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan took part in the proceedings of a Diocesan Representative Assembly at the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin, chaired by His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
Welcoming the participants, the Prime Minister presented his government’s views on several issues: “The Armenian Apostolic Church has played an undeniable role in the history of the Armenian people. Due to our belief in the unity of the Church, we have a state and have been making joint efforts to solve issues of concern to our people. As it has been the case for many centuries, the agenda of the Armenian Apostolic Church features issues of paramount concern to our people, and we are trying to find the right answers,” the head of government said.
According to the Premier, the challenges of the modern world is based on the essential problems; Sometimes these problems are explained by the financial crisis, the Government’s belief in reality we have to deal with a crisis of values, and the key to overcoming the challenges, the secret is in the field to search.
“Consumer psychology, departure from the apostolic sacred values provides the society with serious and insurmountable difficulties. Similar problems are faced by the people I am sure that we can defy challenges the ahead if trust in our faith by strengthening the Holy See of Etchmiadzin and the ties between the church and the state. In this respect, I feel that the focus of our preparations for the 100th anniversary of the Genocide should be the same” the head of government noted.
According to Tigran Sargsyan, such measures should be implemented to strengthen the faith of our people. “The secret consists in consolidating and strengthening our potential in the face new checklists. The younger generation is waiting for solutions that may encourage all of us,” the Premier pointed out.
Referring to the events taking place in Syria, the Prime Minister assured that the government keeps focus on the issues of of Syrian Armenians. “Several thousand families have arrived from Syria, and we must do everything so that they might feel comfortable, overcome all the difficulties, including the ones related to schooling and jobs,” Tigran Sargsyan stressed.
The Prime Minister said that the government’s agenda as well as other issues related to the church. In his firm belief, those decisions to be adopted during this meeting will contribute to the strengthening of the church.
”In my speech, I would like to point out that the state-church relationship has never been as strong as during the presidency of Serzh Sargsyan. Our political team’s vision is to strengthen the linkage between the church, our faith so that we could cope with any hardship mobilizing our people’s potential, building a strong and reliable country to the benefit of the Armenian people,” the Prime Minister concluded.
The Diocesan Representative Assembly will focus on the Genocide 100th anniversary preparations, the drafting of a new constitution for the Armenian Church, assistance to Syrian Armenians etc.
