Defense Ministry Soccer Team Wins Prime Minister’s Cup In 2012
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan went to the Yerevan Republican Stadium after Vazgen Sargsyan where he attended the final match of the Prime Minister’s Cup – 2012, which brought together the football teams of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Education and Science. The team of the Ministry of Defense won 5 - 0. The team of the Police was the third in the tournament.
The Prime Minister himself handed the cup to the winners. Congratulating the winners, the Prime Minister stated in part: “There are no winners and losers in this tournament. Like the victory of our army, that of the Ministry of Defense belongs to all of us.”
Awards were given to the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, player, scorer, fair play and best public service employee.
“The Prime Minister’s Cup 2012" football tournament involved 14 teams from government agencies. The Government is the founder of the tournament, with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs being its immediate organizer and implementer. The tournament was highly supported by the Football Federation of Armenia.
The tournament aims to promote physical culture, healthy lifestyle and mass sports among government employees.
