High School N3 After Manuk Abeghyan Opens, Yerevan State Engineering University Marks 90th Anniversary





Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended the reopening of the upgraded High School N3 after Manuk Abeghyan by the Yerevan State Engineering University.

Accompanied by Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan and Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, the premier toured the premises getting acquainted with the ongoing activities and educational programs.

The school provides modern amenities for pre-vocational education. The State Engineering University has been improving academic curricula for a while now with the advanced model of pre-vocational education being introduced with the help of best professorship. A credit system is to be introduced to the benefit of applicants.

Several high schools have been affiliated to the universities to become an integral part of the higher educational system, where students can get advanced knowledge in those subjects required for admission.

Afterwards Tigran Sargsyan attended a gala event at Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Yerevan State Engineering University. Congratulating the university on behalf of the government, the Prime Minister stated in part, “The University boasts of talented people and an atmosphere of solidarity, we can see that the importance of their work who are actually building the future of our State. This means that the existing traditions of architecture and construction are in reliable hands.”

According to the head of government, universities are the foundation of modern society which in turn should be based on science, knowledge.

“Universities should be the center of the government’s attention, and we must do everything so that the universities get the needed infrastructures. From this point of view, it is quite meaningful that the university’s 90th anniversary celebrations started with the inauguration of the renovated high school building. Direct connection is established between the school and the university. This successful experience needs to be extended to other State universities as it gives good guidelines for the modernization of Armenia’s educational system,” the Prime Minister pointed out.

Assuring that the educational reform is among his government’s key priorities, Tigran Sargsyan said every effort should be made to ensure that our universities be competitive as compared to the best European institutions.

On the 90th anniversary of the University and for a significant contribution to science and education, a presidential decree is out to confer the title of Honored Scientist upon YSEU Vice-Rector, Doctor of Technical Sciences Professor Arkady Barkhudaryan.

The start of the 90th anniversary, science, and education, for his significant contribution to the medal awarded Anania Shirakatsu, YSUAC Rector, head of the department of education reform, technical sciences, professor and YSUAC Arestak Amid Economy, Law and Management Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences Associate Professor S. Stepanian, orders were handed to Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

For his significant contribution to architecture, the Prime Minister’s commemorative medal was awarded to Dean of Faculty of Architecture Professor Tigran Barseghyan and head of International Relations Department, Physics PhD, Associate Professor Vardges Yeghoyan. A number of persons were decorated with the premier’s letters of appreciation.

YSEU Rector John Tokmajyan handed in the University’s “Jim Torosian” medal to Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
