Tigran Sargsyan Paying Working Visit To United States
On December 8, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Welcoming the Armenian Prime Minister, the Mayor of Los Angeles highlighted the role of the Armenian community of Los Angeles in the city’s public life. Discussing bilateral cooperation, the parties arranged to set up a working group to develop cooperation programs.
The official interview was followed by a Mayor of Los Angeles-hosted reception in honor of the Prime Minister of Armenia. The event was attended by numerous representatives from the Armenian community of Los Angeles, clergy, U.S. Ambassador John Heffern, Prime Minister-led delegation members. On the same day, Tigran Sargsyan met with ARF and sister organization representatives.
Welcoming those in attendance, the Prime Minister stated in part, “It is a great honor for me to meet you and explain what we think of our future. We have dozens of outstanding issues that seem to be easy from the outside, but it does not mean that they are not so important. On the other hand, people are very knowledgeable in the Diaspora and are calling for immediate solutions. While the government may face overwhelming pressure due to criticism, I feel happy since dissatisfaction and criticism means that we have a very great potential and can succeed along the path of reform.”
The Premier dwelt on his government’s activities, vision and scheduled actions.
In conclusion, Tigran Sargsyan answered the questions of interest to the audience, which bore on healthcare, welfare, corruption, Artsakh talks, Syrian Armenians and other topical issues.
