Prime Minister: “Lack of money should not prevent talented youth from getting higher education.”
The Armenia Youth Foundation handed scholarship certificates to 810 first- and second-year university students who were not eligible for-tuition free education
The Prime Minister himself handed out certificates to a group of well performing students from vulnerable households. Note that the Foundation had received AMD60m from the Government to offer scholarships to vulnerable students.
Congratulating the students, the Prime Minister said, “This is the third time I have attended an event like this, and I would like to stress that we are going to be consistent in this matter. The government has always been abiding by the motto: “The lack of money should not prevent talented youth from getting higher education.” We will henceforth be endeavoring in this direction. Talented young people will get ever greater financial support to enjoy broader opportunities from year to year.”
The Prime Minister evoked the activities of Luys Foundation, which offers scholarships to those Armenian students studying at the world’s top 10 universities. “I am happy to see a large army of young people who appreciate the efforts of the Armenia Youth Foundation and Luys Foundation,” the Prime Minister noted.
Scholarship bids had been received from 1367 first- and second-year university students, of which 232 came from the provinces. 158 such applications have already been complied with.
Assisted by the government, the Armenia Youth Foundation has been implementing a tuition reimbursement program for the third consecutive year now. 2150 students have benefited from the program over the past 3 years. Last December tuition fee reimbursement was made available to 111 Syrian students of Armenian origin.
