Armenia Social Investment Fund To Continue Infrastructure Development Programs
Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Armenia Social Investment Fund (ASIF) Board of Trustees held a regular meeting in the Office of Government.
Reporting back the results of the Fund’s activities, ASIF Executive Director Ashot Kirakosyan noted that the Fund has already completed three of the four credit programs implemented since 2006. Activities are being carried out under the third disbursement, with 263 rehabilitation projects implemented in 148 communities.
46% of the projects are related to secondary and vocational schools, 28% - to rural community centers and cultural houses. A dozen projects are in the final stage, another 26 are in process of implementation.
The Board approved by the Social Investment Fund budget and a number of projects for 2013. Prime Minister Sargsyan stressed their importance for the socially vulnerable communities. In turn, Ashot Kirakosyan pointed out that those projects are consistent with the Government’s strategy of harmonious territorial development.
According to the 2013 budget of ASIF, AMD3.56b will be disbursed under the third program covering over three dozen projects with 10-12 projects to be decided upon in the near future.
