Businesswomen Continue To Rewarded In Armenia
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s congratulatory remarks opened the sitting of the Women’s Council by the Prime Minister, which was held today at the National Library of Armenia.
“I would like to once again congratulate our dear women on this wonderful holiday. I am glad to have the opportunity to carry out such promotional activities as may have a positive impact on the activation of the role of women in the Republic of Armenia. We handed out prizes last year, which was welcomed by the public. Together, we decided to continue this beautiful tradition. We keep on getting a lot of suggestions on how we could encourage female participation in public life by means of new nominations,” Tigran Sargsyan stated.
The meeting summed up the results of the second edition of Best Businesswoman and Best Gender Issue Dealing Community Award for 2013.
The head of government handed certificates to the winners of various competitions held in the following nominations: Best Female Employer - to Anna Khachaturova from Yerevan and Margarita Chobanyan from Lori Marz, Best Innovative Woman – to Arevik Sargsyan and Nelly Avetisyan, Best Pilanthropist Woman – to Zarouhi Andriasyan from Lori Marz and Anush Badalyan from Gegharkunik Marz, Best Female Manufacturer’s Trademark – to Karine Dnoyan from Yerevan and Ruzanna Danielian from Lori Marz.
Arevik Simonyan and Hasmik Azoyan from Yerevan were acknowledged to be the winners in Best Young Businesswoman nomination among the under-35 bidders. The top prize in the Best Startup Businesswoman category went to Seda Afyan from Kotayk Marz and Anna Gabrielyan from Gegharkunik Marz.
Tigran Sargsyan handed in diplomas to the heads of those communities having excelled in the Best Gender Issue Handling Community nomination.
To encourage female initiative and entrepreneurship in Armenia, special prizes were established by a number of international organizations, including the USAID Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness program, the OSCE, the International Finance Corporation and the Asian Development Bank.
An announcement was made about the launch of the Prime Minister’s award for 2013 in the Best Media Coverage of Gender Issues category, the results of which will be summed up at yearend meeting of the women’s C; by the Prime Minister. The Best TV Reportage, Best Radio Broadcast and Best Printed Material nominations are meant to promote media coverage of success stories about Armenian businesswomen.
“The importance of this award consists in rendering as accurately as possible the competitive atmosphere in this hall, without distorting the facts. I hope our news reporters may take an active part in the coverage of this process and we will have the first winners of this award this year,” the Prime Minister stressed.
