Electronic Versions of Textbooks and Repositories Should Be Available

A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
The Prime Minister informed the members of the Government that lately he has been receiving applications from citizens about making the textbooks, as well as entrance exams repositories, available for beneficiaries online. “The issue is urgent in the sense that the government has undertaken steps to import computers in schools, and children have the opportunity to access textbooks using computers,” said the Prime Minister. Receiving the assurance of the RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science that all the textbooks are posted on the portal of the National Center for Educational Technologies, Tigran Sargsyan added, “Thus, today we can announce to our citizens that all the textbooks used in Armenia are posted on the educational portal, and the children and their parents can access and use them free of charge.”
Based on the RA law on “Mandatory labeling of magnetic, optical, digital, laser, and any other type of electronic data carriers through Control Signs (Stamp Labels)”, the government made amendments in one of its earlier decisions for the purpose to eliminate arising difficulties and clarify misreading. Entities are given the chance to sell the carriers imported to Armenia or unlabeled carriers produced in Armenia before November 15, 2012.
During the discussion, in response to the Prime Minister’s concern about whether they would not be faced with the same problem a year later, after giving entities the opportunity to sell the accumulated carriers now, RA Acting Minister of Economy and RA Acting Minister of Justice, as well as the SRC President assured that the possible consequences have been taken into consideration in the recommended draft decision. According to the Prime Minister’s observation, people prefer to buy a cheap carrier with only 1000 AMD, when the legal one is 5-6 times more expansive. However, the Government accepted the officials’ assurance, and Tigran Sargsyan instructed to re-address the issue in three months.
By the Government’s decision RA agricultural census will be conducted from October 11 to October 31, 2014. “We are conducting a widespread agricultural census in Armenia for the first time,” said the Prime Minster. “We will, for the first time, have an idea about what kind of agricultural lands we have: their species, animal populations, structures, how many people are engaged in agriculture, etc.”
The Government approved the proposal of investment encouragement and mutual protection agreement between the Republics of Armenia and Serbia.
The Cabinet approved the proposal of signing a protocol amending the agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of income tax evasion between the Republics of Armenia and Indonesia.
The Government of the Republic of Armenia decided to mark May the 5th as the Day of Compulsory Enforcement.
