PM addresses freedom fighters’ concerns
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received the freedom fighters that came yesterday to protest in front of the Government House. The meeting was attended by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan.
The head of government heard out the freedom fighters’ concerns trying to understand which way they might be best addressed, after which he read the proposals submitted in writing.
To ensure that assistance is as targeted as possible, the Premier instructed the Ministry of Defense to make a careful study and revise the freedom fighters’ relief eligibility list.
On a note of sincerity, the freedom fighters said to be more concerned about the overwhelming social apathy that fosters a demoralizing background. They slammed the incorrect media coverage of their cause, which should be seen as an attempt to call the government’s attention to existing problems rather than a protest. As a first step, they suggested adopting a law on nationwide celebration of Freedom Fighter's Day in Armenia. The interlocutors also talked about patriotic education, the possibility of founding a museum of freedom fighters and other issues.
In conclusion, Tigran Sargsyan pledged to take up the matter in government in order to find the necessary solutions in preparation of another discussion with the freedom fighters within a short period of time.
