PM Receives NFA Delegation
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a Rosa Tsarukyan-led delegation of National Farmers Association (NFA) Board members to discuss various agriculture-related issues.
Appreciative of apparent progress in agriculture, including animal husbandry, Rosa Tsarukyan proposed a set of measures to develop apiculture in the country. Highlighting the importance of high-quality honey exports, she thanked the government for thoughtfulness of apiculture. Rosa Tsarukyan expressed confidence that the government’s focus might help expand this sector.
In this context, honey export talks were said nearing completion with the European Union. Armenian honey is expected to be exported to Europe in early 2014.
Reference was made to pasture-, irrigation- and drinking water-related issues. The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Agriculture to set up a commission involving NFA representatives to study the problems raised at the meeting.
After discussing poultry farming and crop sales issues, the Prime Minister issued corresponding instructions.
Summing up the meeting, Tigran Sargsyan stressed the importance of holding meetings like this to identify the mechanisms and possibilities for government assistance.
