Tigran Sargsyan: Emerging Civil Society Necessitates Qualitative Changes In Priorities
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a ceremonious event dated to Prosecutor’s Day and 95th anniversary of the Office of Prosecutor-General of the Republic of Armenia.
Congratulating the prosecutors on behalf of the Government and himself, the Prime Minister wished them fruitful work to the benefit of Motherland.
“The Office of Prosecutor-General has gone a long way and faces new challenges. The emerging civil society in Armenia necessitates a qualitative change in the priorities. The President - the head of our political team – has set us the task to reveal our own shortcomings and address them in public as this is the key to overcoming the existing problems,” the Prime Minister said.
According to the head of government, either the Office of Prosecutor-General has a lot of problems. Tigran Sargsyan said today’s feature is that they are talking about such problems and risks as can still be seen in the system.
“This may help us step forward together. At the same time, it this does not mean at all that we need not mention your numerous achievements and good working dynamics. We must hail the honest staff now working in the prosecutorial system. This is the right way ahead. In the meantime, when we talk about our shortcomings and weaknesses, others should not avail themselves of the opportunity to discredit the whole system and blacken everything. Unfortunately, this is still commonplace in our daily life,” Tigran Sargsyan observed.
According to the Premier, today we can witness the construction of civil society in Armenia, which is not an easy road to go, because all too often it turns out that many layers are still unaware of the simple fact that freedom and democracy imply responsibility.
Tigran Sargsyan called attention on this problem, which implies higher professionalism and greater efficiency. This means that sound personnel management, including in the Office of Prosecutor-General, is the key to future success. The head of government assured that the government will keep on taking steps to provide prosecutors with favorable working conditions.
On the occasion of Prosecutor’s Day and the 95th anniversary of the Office of Prosecutor-General, as well as for good performance of official duties, the following servicemen were awarded the Prime Minister’s commemorative medals: NKR Prosecutor Arshavir Ghalamyan, Republic of Armenia Military Prosecutor, Deputy Prosecutor-General Gevorg Kostanyan and Director of Prosecutors' School Grigor Sargsyan.
Armavir Marz Prosecutor Samvel Sinanyan and Tavush Marz Prosecutor Anna Mantashyan were presented with the Premier’s appreciation letters.
In turn, Prosecutor-General Aghvan Hovsepayn handed the 95th anniversary commemorative medal to Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
