Government Set To Ensure High Economic Performance In 2013
A Cabinet meeting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
On the basis of the protocol adopted at the April 2012 meeting of the council on reform of economic legislation in Armenia, the national center of regulatory legislation has examined the health sector – that of drug control, in particular – in a bid to reduce and simplify the corresponding regulations. As a result, numerous proposals were submitted based on which the Government adopted three resolutions.
The Prime Minister suggested holding discussions on per-sector economic performance just as it was the case last year. The ministers were told to analyze the growth stated in their respective areas so that the government could take up the matter at the next cabinet meeting, especially as the final six-month figures have already been published.
“We should be able to assess the potential at hand and future challenges in order to ensure that this year as well we boast high economic growth. The economy has seen drastic structural changes, and we should be able to identify any negative trend and determine the steps we need to take in target industries. We will have to identify those areas in which we have a relatively high rate of growth and take such steps as may seem necessary to provide for sustainable growth. All these issues will be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting,” the Prime Minister said.
The Government approved winter the wheat seed- and high-reproduction seed-breeding programs for 2013-2018, the list of beneficiaries, the number-variety of seeds and the crop areas. Account was taken of the fact that the market economy has impaired the crop system, since only two farms are currently operational instead of more than three dozen specialized public entities operational formerly.
The aforementioned and other seed companies and individual entrepreneurs fall short of the actual market demand in both quantitative and qualitative terms. This decision seeks to boost and take the yearly output of high-reproduction winter wheat up to the mark of 5, 500 tons by 2018.
With a view to enabling public monitoring mechanisms along with the introduction of multifunctional cash registers (MCR), the Government approved a new procedure to follow in organizing and running lotteries and administering bonuses.
In conclusion, the Government approved Aram Isabekyan’s election to the post of Rector of the Yerevan State Academy of Arts. A relevant contract will be signed with him for a period of five years.
