Teachers Awarded Premier’s Commemorative Medals, Letters of Appreciation
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a Teacher’s Day-dedicated gala event at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Yerevan.
Addressing the audience, the Prime Minister stated in part. “On behalf of the Government and on my own behalf, I congratulate all the teachers on the Teacher’s Day. Everywhere in the world the most important profession is that of the teacher because they are creating the future of the State. Given the challenges of the modern world, the work of teachers has increased in importance. I was in the Chinese city of Dalian to take part in the Summer Davos, which was attended by prime ministers from different countries. The agenda was as follows: challenges in the modern world and what governments need to do to overcome the global economic crisis and ensure prosperous development. The conclusion was as follows: to address the challenges in the first place we need to improve the educational system and to pay attention to secondary education. We can say that the fundamental problems relating to the future are being tackled in this arena. You have to prepare a generation that will live in a rapidly changing world, so our young people must be prepared to rapidly changing challenges in the modern world.”
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan assured that the problems of teachers will be kept in focus by the Government of Armenia. On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, for valuable contribution to the cause of patriotic upbringing of the younger generation, and in education and pedagogy, Tigran Sargsyan awarded a group of teachers representing various regions of Armenia Prime Minister’s commemorative medals and letters of appreciation.
Those recognized as the best teacher and the best pedagogue respectively were given a motorcar, and the best director – a computer. The prizes were handed in by the Prime Minister himself.
