Ministry of Defense Soccer Team Wins Prime Minister’s Cup
In the final match of the Prime Minister’s Cup. the team of the Ministry of Defense took beated the Police team after a penalty kickoff and won the honorary cup.
Attended by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the final match of the tournament was held at the Republican stadium in Yerevan.
Congratulating the team of the Ministry of Defense on such a brilliant victory on behalf of the Government of Armenia and his own behalf, the Prime Minister noted, “We had quite an exciting tournament, which kept all of us in tension as everybody was watching their teams play the games. What matters most is that football is becoming increasingly popular, with all government departments already preparing for next year’s tournament. At the same time, I wish to note that there are no losers in this tournament, since we all were beneficiaries as we watched this nice match, which gave us great satisfaction.”
The honorary cup and the medals to the winning team were handed in by the Prime Minister himself.
The Government-hosted tournament is organized and conducted by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs in cooperation with the Football Federation of Armenia.
The Prime Minister’s Cup is an extraordinarily popular event, which is focused solely on the physical training of public agency employees, and on the popularization of mass sport and healthy lifestyle.
The Prime Minister’s Cup soccer tournament was attended by 15 government departments. The bronze medal went to the team of the Ministry of Education and Science, which beated the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources team 3 to 1.
