Tigran Sargsyan, Maxim Sokolov Attend Opening Of Armenian-Russian Interregional Exhibition
Armenia-Russia intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation co-chairs Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and RF Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov participated in the opening ceremony of the Armenian-Russian interregional exhibition. Congratulating those present on behalf of his government, the Prime Minister thanked all those who had contributed to the event: “It has become a tradition now to hold interregional exhibitions in our countries. They are an important link in the chain of interstate relations, which complement the activities of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission and help implement the agreements reached between the top leaders of our countries.”
Pointing out that some 30 agreements have already been signed between two dozen regions of Armenia and Russia, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of expanding the scope of decentralized cooperation between the two countries and the improvement of the existing legal framework.
“The forum and the exhibition are supposed to promote business ties and, as a result, specific arrangements and joint projects. Above all, they should benefit to small and medium-size businesses. According to the Doing Business report, Armenia is a regional leader in terms of business-friendly environment, and Russian businessmen should take advantage thereof,” the Prime Minister said.
As the head of government noted, Armenias adherence to the Customs Union and the economic ties with the European Union and the countries of the Middle East may provide additional incentives for making investments and doing business in our country.
In turn, Maxim Sokolov noted that the attendance of eight Russian governors in the exhibition points to the efficacy of Armenian-Russian relations, reflecting the two sides’ steady focus on and responsibility of interregional ties.
After cutting the symbolic ribbon, Tigran Sargsyan and Maxim Sokolov toured the stands getting acquainted with the products and services on display.
Held on the sidelines of the Armenian-Russian interregional forum, the exhibition covers 9 Armenian provinces and 10 regions of Russia, as well as private companies. The exposition seeks to introduce achievements and discuss future plans with a view to identifying the existing potentialities and implementing new projects.
9 round-tables will be held in the framework of the event to discuss various topics ranging from the integration process to per-sector programs.
