First Armenian Tablet Presented To Premier At Industrial Council Meeting
The Government hosted today a regular meeting of the Industrial Council, presided over by Board chairman, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
The session began with the presentation of the first Armenian tablet (Armtab) and the first phone (Armphone). Before discussing the issues on the agenda, the Prime Minister said that the Technology and Science Dynamics Inc. / Armtab Technologies, a U.S. - Armenian company, has launched the production of first portable computers in Armenia. In particular, company President Vahan Shakaryan said that a trial production is already out for tablets with 7.85 , 9 , 9.7 and 10.1 -inch screens, with 3G and WiFi capabilities, as well as the first phone Armfon (Armphone).
He noted that the quality of the tablets is no inferior to that of the the world-famous trademarks, and the cost will be significantly lower as compared to the price of the latter. Software and hardware support (software and hardware),as well as the design is implemented in Armenia, while assembly is ensured in the United States and Hong Kong. The Armenian tablets will come into mass production and on sale in January and February, 2014, with 25-50 Armenian specialists involved in the production process. The meeting discussed an array of issues concerning the tablets application and marketing.
Taking the opportunity, Mr. Shakaryan presented the Prime Minister with first Armenian tablet, expressing hope that it will be of service in everyday work. The Prime Minister instructed to organize a presentation and present to the public the first lot of Armenian portable computers.
The council went on to discuss “The Armenia textile and knitting industry development strategy,” “The shoe industry development strategy” and a relevant action plan for light industry in 2014-2016.
Reference was made to the current situation and trends in the given areas, as well as the budgeting and specific actions under the proposed program. After an in-depth discussion on the matter, the Prime Minister instructed to draft a memorandum on cooperation to be signed with the private sector.
In conclusion, the meeting approved amendments to the “2012-2015 Precision Engineering Action Plan.”
