Liquor - National Drug Producer - Gets State Quality Certificate
Attended by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, “Human Health” 10th national scientific-medical conference kicked off in Yerevan under the motto “National drugs: international quality.”
For the first time in history, an Armenian drug manufacturer – Liquor pharmaceutical company - was awarded the State certificate of quality conformity (good manufacturing operations, GMP), which will result in higher public confidence in the quality of Liquor-made products both at home and abroad.
Director of “Liquor” Sergey Matevosyan thanked the Armenian government for substantive assistance provided during the global economic crisis, which contributed to the achievements of the company. In turn, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan complimented the company for the award and wished them every success in future activities.
Currently applicable worldwide, GMP is a system of high technological requirements, which regulates the pharmaceutical manufacturing process. Being an indicator of high quality of medicines, the certificate is essential to exports.
USAID Armenia Mission Head Karen Hilliard said the United States is pleased to support Armenia’s pharmaceutical sector, as it has the potential to increase the exports and create jobs.
“Through our business development program, we are promoting five major pharmaceutical companies in Armenia to achieve international quality standards,” Ms Hilliard noted, congratulating “Liquor” for the certificate. She expressed hope that other pharmaceutical companies in Armenia will be as much successful.
In conclusion, Tigran Sargsyan familiarized himself with the activities and programs of those pharmaceutical companies involved in the conference-affiliated exposition.
