Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited the new administrative building of the Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police in Yerevan’s Davidashen community, opened in September 2013.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan and Deputy Police Chief Artur Osikyan, toured the premise and got acquainted with the working conditions and technical equipment. Tigran Sargsyan visited a number of subdivisions, such as departments of applications, population state register, visa, passport and exit documents, talked to the staff and visitors of the department, who expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the provided services.
At the same time, the Prime Minister himself went through all the procedures and acquired a biometric passport and an ID card.
“It was extremely important for me to see what kind of service is provided to an ordinary citizen. In this sense, we can say that this is one of our state’s major achievements in the last 5 years. The standard, which has been implemented in this field, should spread to other areas, where the state communicates with its citizens,” said the Prime Minister, appreciating the works implemented in the department.
The officials of the department briefed the Prime Minister on the reforms implemented in this field. It was noted, that due to the introduction of newest technology, the quality of the services provided to the citizens has increased significantly, corruption risks have been minimized, and document formation time has been reduced.
The new administrative building of the Passport and Visa Department, that occupies approximately 5,000 square meters of space and employs more than 150 people, has 4 ground floors and 1 underground floor.
