Import, Export Privileges Granted, State Highways Roster Finalized
A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
With an earlier decision, the Government granted Ararat Food Factory LLC a VAT payment extension until September 1, 2014 for imports worth over AMD300mn, completed the title list of imported equipment, supposed to increase the company’s output capacity and get premium quality raw materials for juices.
The company is planning to start the second phase of its investment program up to AMD2.2bn from 1.6 billion and buy modern equipment. The company has already created 102 jobs.
The Government extended till February 15, 2017 the temporary export customs regime for the Armenia History Museum-exported Lori-Berd cross-stone, which since 2008 has been on display with detailed comments at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum. The exposition of the cross-stone can play a significant role in the popularization of the Armenian culture.
Whereas the technology center in Gyumri has proved a success story, the head of government issued an instruction to set up a similar facility in Vanadzor under the loan agreement signed between the Republic of Armenia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The meeting deemed it appropriate to recognize the Enterprise Incubator Foundation as chief operator of the project to which the Engineering University’s first three-story building along with its three sections was handed over. “This is good news mot only for the young residents of Vanadzor, but also for all the inhabitants of the town,” the Prime Minister said.
The Government approved model a form and a procedure to follow by central executive bodies and regional administrations in issuing passes, granting licenses, keeping registration books, as well as the description of passes and certificates so issued.
To finance research, design and construction activities for the Aghstev River left bank dam breast-wall reconstruction project, the Government provided AMD250mn to DIS Properties Benevolent Fund as a contribution.
The meeting approved the finalized public highways roster, classified with specified lengths and names. The Ministry of Transport and Communications shall be the roster’s public regulator. The Ministry will be joined by local administrations (including the Yerevan Town Hall) to ensure the management and maintenance of highways and roads.
After deciding to set up a Minister of Transport and Communications-headed road traffic regulating council, the Cabinet approved its composition and working procedure. In its capacity of an interagency advisory authority with the chief objective of formulating road sector-related proposals and recommendations, the Council shall submit quarterly reports to the Government.
The international scientific award after Armenia’s national hero Victor Hambardzumyan is awarded every next year on September 18 - the birthday of the scientist. The Government amended a previous decision to enhance selection efficiency, as well as promote astrophysics, physics and mathematics.
The Cabinet approved a proposal for Armenia’s accession to the agreement signed between the governments of Belarus and Russia on February 11, 2000 on establishing the “Defense Systems” interstate financial-industrial group.
With the following decision, the meeting approved a proposal on signing a protocol on amendments to the aforementioned instrument. The agreements are in the best interest of the Republic of Armenia as they enable our country to deepen integration and cooperation between the signatories’ industrial complexes through closer participation in manufacturing, research and investment potential.
The meeting decided to accord a call-up extension until the summer draft campaign of 2014 to graduate student at Oxford University Sergey Shahverdyan.
