Prime Minister Welcomes Serbian Foreign Minister
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic. Welcoming the guest, the Prime Minister said the Armenian-Serbian friendship is further strengthened by the fact that our country is set to expand bilateral relationship.
In particular, Tigran Sargsyan stressed the need to wind up economic cooperation in order to catch up with the ongoing high-level political dialogue between the two countries. In this context, the Premier highlighted the role of the Armenian-Serbian business forum due this March 11 that may help identify new interaction opportunities.
Thankful for reception, the Serbian Foreign Minister said his country is interested in developing the best possible relationship with Armenia. Ivan Mrkic reiterated Serbia’s willingness to activate economic ties in line with the political ones. Considering it necessary to build up an appropriate legal framework, he advised that a double taxation avoidance agreement had been signed earlier today during a meeting with his Armenian counterpart.
The parties exchanged views concerning the possibility to strengthen cooperation in various spheres of activity. The head of the Armenian government advised that our country has adopted a policy of “open skies,” which is a good opportunity to launch Yerevan - Belgrade direct air flights.
Welcoming the idea, Mr. Mrkic said it might promote tourism, foster business contacts and investment.
