For the first time farm animals to be numbered, registered and certified
At the end of 2012, by Prime Minister’s decision, a farm animal numbering, registration and certification program was implemented in Vayots Dzor region.
ANI Pass system was developed which makes it possible to enter and analyze information about animals. There were developed a guide on the use of the system, data logs, a user’s manual. In the ANI Pass contains information on all livestock animals, 23,900 altogether.
On the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Government decided to implement the program across the country. Initially it is proposed to purchase ear tags for animals, composters, passports, registers, storage server, appoint serving veterinarians in communities, as well as to conclude employment contracts, etc. It is expected that the program will provide an opportunity to bring greater efficiency and predictability of the movement of animals, as well as control over diseases.
