NGOs Representing Ethnic Minorities To Get Support
AMD20mn is envisaged in the 2014 State budget for ethnic minority non-governmental organizations.
The Coordinating Council operational by the presidential adviser allocated AMD9mn to the Council-affiliated community organizations at its February meeting.
Today’s Cabinet meeting approved the allocations made to two Assyrian, Belarusian, German, Yezidi, Polish, Greek, Russian, Georgian, Ukrainian and Kurdish communities.
The Council next decided to transfer AMD11mn to “Harmony” Russian Cultural Center. 1 million dram will be used to hold joint educational and cultural activities, while 10 million will be spent to implement different ethnic and cultural events, including the ones organized by non-member organizations. These allocations were approved by the government with the same resolution.
The legal act is adopted each year. Note that the ethnic minority NGOs use the money to promote their ethnic identity and address educational and cultural issues.
