Readmission applications from Republic of Armenia citizens residing in the EU without authorization will be processed within specific time frames Accreditation decisions will be made by an independent body
At today’s Cabinet sitting, the Government approved an action plan for implementation of the agreement “On readmission of persons residing without authorization” between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union.
In particular, the meeting approved a procedure to follow in processing the applications received under the agreement. The State Migration Service (SMS) of Armenia was appointed to be Armenia’s authorized entity. An SMS Head-chaired interagency group was set up to monitor the implementation of the agreement and discuss the problems arising from its implementation.
Under the same agreement, Armenia is committed to discuss and process readmission or transit requests from Armenian or third-party nationals and answer them within 2 working days to 12 calendar days. Armenia’s policy is aimed at establishing closer relationship with the European Union in this area.
Following the ratification of the Bologna Declaration in May, 2005, Armenia undertook to harmonize its educational legislation with the applicable international standards. The educational reform is aimed at the above-stated goal.
With another decision passed today, the Government expects to contribute to the independence of the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation and its consistency with international legal standards.
