Contract Service Non-Commissioned Officers System Due In Armed Forces
The government approved a bill on amendments to the law “On Approval of Armed Forces Internal Service Law,” in a bid to address the need for a system of professional non-commissioned officers in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
The army reform aims to create a sergeant service system in line with the international standards, both by making changes to the existing command staff hierarchy and introducing new non-commissioned positions in the Army.
The bill specifies the newly formed regiment (brigade) sergeant and battalion sergeant duties. The company chief, deputy platoon commander and squad leader positions are replaced by the positions of company, platoon, and squad sergeant. The latter’s duties are clarified as the primary section in the chain.
Designed by the Defense Ministry Personnel and Military Education, Legal Departments and the Army General Staff Troops Service Department and approved by the Government, the draft law will be submitted to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.
