President Serzh Sargsyan Introduces to Cabinet members the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia
President Serzh Sargsyan introduced to the government members and the officials attending Cabinet meetings the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. “As you may know, I yesterday appointed Hovik Abrahamyan as Prime Minister – a person who enjoys the confidence of the majority of the National Assembly, was the Speaker of the National Assembly and is the Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia. Yesterday the press briefed the public in detail on all the processes and the issues that should be addressed by the Prime Minister and the new government.
Following the appointment of the Prime Minister, the government continues in office, and I am now asking the government officials to perform their duties in good faith and diligent manner.
We have twenty days with the Prime Minister to form a new government. Then we will talk in detail about the government’s tasks. I would like to once again congratulate Mr. Abrahamyan and wish him every success. Congratulations,” the President said as he introduced the Prime Minister to the government.
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan thanked the President for trust and asked the acting government members to continue working until a new government is formed. “Mr. President, I wish to say to my colleagues that we have no preferences concerning any candidate, and I would like to ask all of my colleagues for greater enthusiasm in their commitment. Mr. President, within the time prescribed by the Constitution, with your consent, we will present the composition of the new government and the approach will be based on the outcome of work done over the years and also on how well new programs will be implemented in the future. Thank you,” newly appointed Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan concluded.
