UN-declared Family Year-dedicated events to be held in Armenia Government approved a program aimed at equality between men and women
Based on the 2014 decision of the United Nations on proclaiming 2014 Family Year, the Government decided today that the Family Year will be marked in Armenia in the period from April 7, 2014 through April 7, 2015.
With the same decision, the Executive approved a program of action dedicated to the Family Year. The draft document was developed by the Prime Minister-affiliated Women’s Council based on proposals received from ministries, the Republican Women’s Council and other NGOs.
With two other decisions, the government approved annual action plans for its policy of equality of men and women and gender-based violence prevention for 2014. According to official statistics, the Armenian society keeps facing hidden discrimination against women and gender-based violence still remains a pressing problem in our country. Armenia’s geopolitical and socio -economic situation, unemployment, illegal migration and the imperfect legal framework lead to increase in gender-based violence. The present decisions are expected to promote better perception of gender equality and gender-based violence prevention.
Amending the budget law and one of its previous decisions, the government plans to change the government to provide housing and Shirak Gyumri city built in 1756, Lori and Aragatsotn Province in 2014, construction of about 1,300 housing acquisition, housing in 1300 as well as 2010-2012 were distributed, but still unspecified donation of about 2,000 housing conditions of the sealing process, the results of the evaluation and analysis of the work carried out. For this purpose, the Ministry of Urban Development was allocated a sum of over AMD10mn.
The Government passed another decision to donate to their actual residents the hostel premises currently occupied 15 local residents and their families in order to better their social and living conditions.
