Jubilee Events Due On Hovhannes Shiraz Birth 100th Anniversary
April 27 is the birthday of Hovhannes Shiraz – the great Armenian poet would have marked his 100th anniversary, if alive. On this occasion, the Government hosted today a meeting of the Commission on preparation of jubilee events, chaired by Vice Prime Minister, Acting Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan.
Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan introduced the program of commemorative events dedicated to the 100 anniversary of Shiraz, which was approved by the Commission. Scheduled for both this and the coming year, the program will start on April 27 in Gyumri with a commemorative event and a visit paid to the poet’s Home-Museum.
In particular, 2 memorial evenings are due to be held in Gyumri and Yerevan, along with a public presentation of the writer’s literary heritage, publication of a complete collection of his works, making a documentary film dedicated to Hovhannes Shiraz, various events, exhibitions, literary parties, school essay contests and so on.
