PM Attends CIS Council of Heads of Government Meeting
Chaired by Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich, a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government was held today in the Palace of independence in Minsk.
First, the CIS heads of government had a private meeting, during which Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich congratulated Hovik Abrahamyan appointment as Prime Minister and wished him successful work. Then, at an enlarged meeting, the heads of government discussed some two dozen questions pertaining to the development of cooperation in the CIS framework.
A series of agreements were signed on cooperation in the sphere of cross-country exchange of scientific and technical information, in transport security, cooperation in topographic, geodetic and navigational support of the armed forces of CIS countries, cooperation between engineer troops of CIS countries in mine-clearing, as well as on the amendments to certain agreements.
The meeting approved a program for support and development of ethnic sports in the CIS in the period until 2020 and a plan of measures for its implementation in 2015-2017, a program for implementation of hydro-meteorological activity development strategy, as well as a set of joint CIS measures for the prevention and control of foot-and-mouth disease for a period up to the year 2020.
Note was taken of the progress made in the year 2013 with the implementation of the Interstate Program for innovations-related cooperation among CIS countries for a period until the 2020 target year, and a Package of Measures for implementation of the Program in 2012-2014, the reports on the activities of the interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy and the CIS Council for cultural cooperation, as well as the financial and economic activity of the Interstate Fund for humanitarian cooperation in 2012, and the findings of a documentary audit carried out in 2013.
It was agreed that the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government will be held in capital of Turkmenistan Ashgabad on November 21, 2014.
Following the meeting, the head of the Armenian government took part in a working lunch hosted by Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich in honor of the participants of the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
